A daimyō (大名, daimyō; English TV "Feudal Lord"; Literally meaning "Great Name") is the leader of a country. During the third stage of the Chūnin Exams held in Konohagakure, attending daimyō examine the participants as a council to determine which candidates have the aptitude of becoming chūnin. Among these people, many bet money on which participants would win their matches, in some cases they go as far as threatening or bribing one of the combatants to let their opponent win. Following the Kage Summit, the daimyō of the Five Great Shinobi Countries agree to endorse the Allied Shinobi Forces. A daimyō has the power to nominate an individual for the position of "Kage" but this also requires the approval of the village's jōnin to become official as seen when Danzō Shimura was appointed the "Sixth Hokage Candidate" (六代目火影候補, Rokudaime Hokage Kōho) but needed the jōnin's approval to become the official one.
