The Yang Release (陽遁, Yōton; Viz "Light Style") techniques, based on the physical energy that governs vitality, can be used to breathe life into form. When combined with Yin Release, it allows the use of Yin–Yang Release.[1] It is depicted as white in the manga and blue in the anime.
The Yang nature was mentioned for the first time by Yamato during Naruto's Rasenshuriken training, along with the Yin nature, hinting that the Akimichi's techniques are somehow connected to it. Yang can also be found in the name of two barrier techniques, Four Red Yang Formationand Six Red Yang Formation.
Yang chakra is also part of a tailed beasts' chakra. During the Nine-Tails' attack on Konoha, Minato Namikaze used the Eight Trigrams Sealing Styleto seal the Yang half of the fox's chakra within Naruto Uzumaki.[2]Whenever Naruto is in Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, Wood Releasetechniques will react to the Yang chakra's vitalising properties and mature into full-grown trees within a matter of seconds, either by contact or close range.[3] This was also shown to have the same effect on White Zetsu Army clones, whose genetic make-up is similar to that of plants.[4]
